JRN are delighted to announce that London Rowing Club’s Men’s Eight are our Club Crew of the Year.
After nearly 20 years of waiting, London finally took The Thames Challenge Cup in 2025. Their campaign was peerless, achieving wins at the Metropolitan and Marlow Regattas alongside a host of impressive performances against local rivals, Thames, on the Tideway. Stu Heap and his crew arrived at Henley Royal Regatta with the weight of expectation heavy on their shoulders, but their performances were the mark of men whose talent was not to be denied.
Stu Heap, Chief Men’s Coach, said: “The semifinal loss at Henley Royal Regatta 2024 played a large part in developing a successful campaign for The Thames Challenge Cup crew this year. It provided motivation throughout the season to continue to push the standard of what we were doing on and off the water. Naturally, only nine people can win The Thames Challenge Cup, but the strength and depth of our squad made the win achievable. This is backed up by our win in The Wyfold Challenge Cup and strong showing in the final of The Britannia Challenge Cup. We have been building a sustainable programme capable of producing consistent results, and in 2026, we plan to target the intermediate and club level events at Henley Royal Regatta.“
