In a weekend filled with important cup races and loaded invitationals, there were plenty results and margins which upset the status quo. As such, the pollsters have reevaluated the state of play across the nation leading to some significant changes in the JRN Media Poll, sponsored by WinTech and King Racing.

The top of the tree seems to have stabilised this week as there were no changes to the top 14 positions. However, lower down, where NCAA bids will be contested, there was much change. Last week’s new entry UCF rose further to number 15 after a strong showing at the Rocky Top Invitational, while Duke slipped to 18 after inconsistent performances. Dartmouth rose sharply after beating a number of Boston-based schools. Finally, Columbia enter the poll at number 20 after a strong race at the weather-effected Ohio State Regatta, at the expense of Indiana with the Hoosiers being swept by the Lions across all events.

The men’s rankings, by contrast, have a lot of change in the higher rankings. Leading the way, California regain the top spot after posting the fastest time at Redwood Shores, getting the benefit of the doubt over Washington through transitive results, convincing just one pollster to change their mind, such is the close nature of proceedings.
Stanford were the other big benefactors of the weekend, jumping up four spots with their lose result against the Huskies. Wisconsin rise as well after their performance on the west coast.
From the East Coast, Dartmouth’s confident win over Yale sees them rise in the poll as these changes bring a cascade of teams sliding down the rankings in adjustment.
