Patriot League Women’s Rowing Championships

Boston University (BU) earned their automatic qualification to NCAA Championships as they captured the win in the Varsity 8, Varsity 4 and Second Varsity 4. With a time of 6:42.6, the Varsity 8 crossed the finish line ahead of MIT (6:49.9) and Georgetown (6:52.8). This marks the second consecutive championship win for BU and they will be looking forward to testing their speed against other top collegiate programs in NCAA’s.

ACC Championships

For the fourth consecutive time, Stanford claimed the NCAA automatic qualification, winning all five grand finals and setting four ACC championship records as the new addition to the conference. In the Varsity 8 Grand Final, Stanford crossed the finish time with a blazing time of 5:58.6. Virginia came in ten seconds behind with a time of 6:08.2, followed closely behind by California with a time of 6:09.5. Stanford will be one of the biggest contenders for the NCAA Championship title this year as they show competitive speed throughout all the boat classes.

CAA Championship

This was one of the many Conferences held at Pennsauken, NJ this weekend. Northeastern secured their automatic qualification to NCAA’s, winning in the Varsity 8, Second Varsity 8, and Third Varsity 8. In the Varsity 8 Grand Final, Northeastern crossed the finish line nine seconds ahead of Delaware with a time of 7:05.9 and fifteen seconds ahead of Connecticut. This is the 11 th consecutive season Northeastern had won the CAA Championship.

West Coast Conference Rowing Championships

Oregon State claimed the West Coast Championship title, their boats winning every single race across the two-day regatta at Lake Natoma. This is the first time they have ever won the title, following the rearrangement of the conferences at the beginning of this year. In the Varsity 8 Grand Final, Oregon State crossed the finish line first with a time of 6:36.1, nine seconds ahead of Gonzaga (6:45.8) and eleven seconds ahead of Washington State (6:47.8).

Atlantic 10 Championship

This automatic qualification spot was earned by Rhode Island University for the second consecutive year. In the Varsity 8 Grand Final, they crossed the finish line 3 seconds ahead of George Washington to take the victory with a time of 6:40.7. Saint Joseph’s came in third with a time of 6:46.2.

Big 10 Championships

This conference was dominated by Washington as they had a clean sweep of all seven grand finals. In the Varsity 8 Grand Final, Washington finished with a time of 6:05.2, ahead of Rutgers (6:06.1) and Michigan (6:10.1). Washington will definitely be a crew to watch in NCAAs and I expect at least Rutgers to claim an at-large bid.

Ivy League Championships

Yale claimed the Ivy League automatic qualification to NCAA’s, coming in second in the Varsity 8, and winning the Second Varsity 8 and Varsity 4. However, in the Varsity 8 Grand Final, Princeton came out on top with a time of 6:01.2, three seconds ahead of Yale and 7 seconds ahead of Brown. The Ivy League has been exceptionally fast this year so it will be exciting to see how many of these programs for NCAAs.

Big 12 Rowing Championship

In Nathan Benderson Park, Florida, the University of Central Florida claimed the Conference title, having a clean sweep of all races. This was the first time this program has won the championships since 2019. Their Varsity 8 Grand Final finishing time was 6:22.1, ahead of Tulsa (6:38.9) and Kansas (6:47.5).

Metro Atlantic Conference Championship (MACC)

For the first time since 2000, Fairfield claimed the MAAC Championship title in a huge upset ahead of Jacksonville and Marist University. In the Varsity 8 Grand Final, they crossed the finish line in 6:42.8, followed closely behind by Stetson (6:44.3) and Jacksonville (6:46.7). They also finish on the podium in all other boat classes.
