Hosted at the prestigious Irish National Rowing Centre in Cork, the Skibbereen Grand League Regatta promises to be a thrilling spectacle. In the women’s junior eight category, many of the country’s biggest names will fight it out, but who will be victorious?

Castleconnell Boat Club

This crew will be determined to secure victory at this Grand League event. With Emily McEntree competing in the three-seat once more, following her impressive 7.29 in the 2k at the Irish Indoor Rowing Championships, this regatta season promises to be a strong one for the crew. After finishing second at the Erne Eights Head of the River, they will be eager to establish their presence this regatta season.

St Michaels Rowing Club

The emergence of several new members in the St. Michael’s crew could push them toward victory. With the formidable duo of Aida Hehir and Cloda Phillips at the stern, this crew is driven to conquer the 2k course and secure a win. Given that this particular crew combination has not been previously observed in competition, it promises to be an exceptionally close race, so it will be exciting to see what they can produce.

Enniskillen Royal Boat Club

Enniskillen are a club known for always delivering consistent performances. After their impressive win at the Erne Head of the River in their own backyard, and with eight out of nine crew members returning after taking the win at the Irish Rowing Championships last July, this crew is undoubtedly one to watch. They will be coming back with determination as well as experience behind them.

Prediction

The competition looks to be interesting, but I would put Enniskillen at the top, considering their win at home only last month. Behind them, Castleconnell and St Michaels will be fighting it out, but with the new combination from St Michaels, it is Castleconnell’s to lose.
