Entries: 9

2024 Champion: Niels Torre (Italy)

Despite the relatively low number of entries, this event presents some intriguing battles.

Fabio Kress of Germany will most likely lead the charge. He was the U23 BLM2X world champion in 2021 and has since won medals in the lightweight men’s quad at European and world levels.

Chasing the German will be Ireland’s Jacob McCarthy (sixth in the lightweight men’s single at last year’s European Rowing Championships) and Azerbaijan’s Ziya Mammadzada (eighth at last year’s European Rowing Championships).

Cahllenging these senior scullers are the gold and silver medallists from the 2024 U23 European Rowing Championships, Turkey’s Halil Kaan Koroglu and Neutral athlete Mikita Karneyeu. Also racing is Croatia’s Vito Przmic, who finished seventh in the BLM2X at the U23 European Rowing Championships and Finland’s Kasper Hirvilampi (18th in the lightweight men’s single at the 2024 World Rowing Championships).

The final two sculler are both teenagers; 18-year-old Alexandr Matronitchi of Moldova (11th at the 2024 U23 European Rowing Championships) and 19-year-old Mads Reite of Norway (12th in the men’s quad at the U19 European Rowing Championships).

Prediction

Kress of Germany in gold, McCarthy of Ireland in silver, and the young Turk Koroglu in bronze.
